Here’s what Susana had to say when we sat down with her for our Q & A.

Welcome Susana to the Firemind team! It’s great to have you with us. For our viewers, could you please tell us a little about yourself and your professional background?

Telecommunications engineer graduated. I started my career as a Field Engineer, programming and monitoring directional drilling tools in an oil rig, blessed with the opportunity to grow and further develop as responsibility was given at a very early stage. I was in charge of identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, stakeholder management and implementation of work standards and risk management. From there, I successfully developed further into various IT fields such us software development, network administration, data centre migrations, cloud migrations, cloud adaptions and now Big Data Platforms, ML and Generative AI.

How did you find out about us and what made you decide to apply for a role with Firemind?

I was approached by one of the Managing Directors, and between him and their CTO, I was convinced that Firemind would be a great place to work due to their amazing culture, work life balance and Generative AI projects.

What is your role at Firemind?

I am a Senior Data and AI Engagement Manager, working closely with our clients and delivery teams.

Which areas of our business interested you the most?

Generative AI, as it presents a remarkable opportunity for businesses to unlock new levels of success and propel themselves into the future.

What will be your main goals/objectives whilst working at Firemind?

Building strong and lasting relationships with our customers while delivering real value.

Which aspects of your role are you most excited about?

Both people and technology aspects and how they come together to deliver successful outcomes. Empowering teams to thrive within a positive working environment where we foster effective communication, creativity, innovation and continuous improvement.

What do you hope to achieve within your first 12 months here?

I hope to further improve on our delivery practice ways of working, processes and strategies, as well as successfully deliver some great projects and programmes of work around Generative AI.

Outside of work, what do you get up to? Tell us about your hobbies.

CrossFit. I really like the multi discipline and social aspects of this sport, from high intensity training, Olympic weightlifting, and gymnastics to name a few. It’s hard, fun and it keeps me grounded.

What’s your favourite song on your playlist right now?

Just Susana 😊.

If you could only choose one dish to eat every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything cooked in a wood-fired BBQ will do or Hallacas (to good to leave them out). Hallacas is a traditional dish from Venezuela, each year our family comes together around Christmas to partake in the making and it’s a beautiful thing. The dish itself consists of corn dough stuffed with a stew of beef, pork or chicken, and decorated with vegetables and dried fruits.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

Trekking, camping and exploring Mount Roraima, Venezuela “The Lost World”. The view I am told is stunning.

What is one skill you would really love to learn?

Scuba Diving. The feeling of breathing underwater and the pure bliss of the underwater world is something that I would love to experience.

How do you wind down after work?

Going out for long walks and home karaoke with my family. 🎤
