Join us in giving Nour Ben Gaied a warm welcome to the team as she joins us today as our new Data Scientist. She is looking forward to delivering innovative solutions and the collaborative nature Firemind provides.

Here’s what Nour had to say when we sat down with her for our Q & A session.

How did you find out about us and what made you decide to apply for a role with Firemind?

I initially heard about Firemind through a Data Scientist in the team, named Khalil, who happens to be an old classmate of mine. After speaking with Ben, Firemind’s CTO, and Khalil, it was clear that Firemind is leading the way in generative AI on AWS and offers an incredible workplace culture!

What is your role at Firemind?

I’m a Data Scientist and my focus will be on deploying scalable ML/AI solutions on AWS.

Which areas of our business interested you the most?

I find the intersection between delivering innovative solutions, particularly in the space of Generative AI, and following best practices to build robust solutions very interesting. I’m very excited to take part in that with Firemind.

What will be your main goals/objectives whilst working at Firemind?

My primary goal is to make a tangible impact with every project and deliver real value to the clients. Additionally, I’d like to continuously expand on my data science toolkit, with a focus on Generative AI, and to keep building on AWS.

Which aspects of your role are you most excited about?

There are many opportunities at Firemind to build AI/ML solutions that create data-driven success, and I’m mostly excited about getting hands on with the projects. I also look forward to being a part of this collaborative environment and to learn from my colleagues.

What do you hope to achieve within your first 12 months here?

I hope to deliver multiple data driven solutions on AWS to help improve the clients’ processes and to take part in the entire project lifecycles. I’d also like to achieve a couple more AWS certifications.

Outside of work, what do you get up to? Tell us about your hobbies.

I love all things fantasy so you will usually find me buried in a fresh novel, or re-reading The Lord of the Rings yet again. Otherwise, I enjoy playing the piano and attending pilates classes.

No nicknames, just Nour!

If you could only choose one dish to eat every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Miso glazed salmon! It’s the perfect fusion of flavours, I never get tired of eating it.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and exploring the Serengeti are at the top of my list.

What is one skill you would really love to learn?

I’ve always had a fascination for nature and wildlife, and it would be great to learn wildlife photography.

How do you wind down after work?

I try to balance between mental and physical activity. I’ve found that meditating and aerobics are the best combination after a day of work.
