Our new Cloud Engineering Lead, Chris Harris, is highly experienced in the field, coming from a rich background of working with AWS and its full range of services. He is looking forward to continue delivering successful projects for our customers at Firemind, and we are very excited to have with him us.

Here’s what Chris had to say when we sat down with him for our Q & A session.

Hello and welcome to the Firemind team! It’s great to have you with us. For our viewers, could you please tell us a little about yourself and your professional background?

In total, I’ve been in the IT industry for over 17 years. I started out working in an IT Support role and quickly made my way to a senior position. 6 years ago, I moved into a Cloud Engineering/DevOps role and since then have been working with AWS, Cloudformation, and Terraform in the Data/ML/AI space.

How did you find out about us and what made you decide to apply for a role with Firemind?

I was contacted on LinkedIn and after hearing more about the company’s technology and vision, I was very interested in a role at Firemind.

What is your role at Firemind?

I’m a Cloud Engineering Lead.

Which areas of our business interested you the most?

I’m most interested in the AI element as it’s transforming so many areas of business and our day-to-day lives already. This is only going to accelerate as time goes on and I’m so excited to be part of it.

What will be your main goals/objectives whilst working at Firemind?

My main goal is to continue to improve the cloud engineering practice and continue to deliver successful projects for our customers.

Which aspects of your role are you most excited about?

I’m really looking forward to getting to know the team and working on some cutting-edge AI projects, running on AWS.

What do you hope to achieve within your first 12 months here?

I hope to complete some large AI projects, continue to improve our internal processes and to help the company to excel in its field of expertise.

Outside of work, what do you get up to? Tell us about your hobbies.

I have a few different hobbies including squash, cycling and cooking.

Any fun nicknames we should know about? If Yes, what’s the backstory?

I don’t have any nicknames as such but because my friend is also called Chris Harris, people call me Chris 2.

If you could only choose one dish to eat every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would be a seafood platter with triple cooked chips.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

To go on holiday to the Maldives or skydiving again (when I build up the courage).

What is one skill you would really love to learn?

I would love to learn how to fly a plane.

How do you wind down after work?

I wind down by either playing computer games or finding something to watch on YouTube or Netflix.
