Challenge
The Bank of Ireland’s legal team faced growing demands to review and analyse complex banking documents. These tasks – such as summarising lengthy agreements, reviewing terms and conditions, and analysing customer contracts – were time-consuming and resource-intensive.
As workloads increased, the legal department needed a scalable, secure solution that could accelerate document processing, free up lawyers for higher-value work, and maintain the bank’s rigorous data privacy and security standards.
Solution
A custom generative AI solution was developed to deliver rapid, accurate document summaries, simplify contract reviews, and make complex terms easier to understand. The system integrated seamlessly with Amazon Bedrock to leverage AWS’s robust security and privacy controls.
The team also introduced a specialist counsel tool to provide targeted insights into specific areas of law. Built with Amazon Bedrock and explored via Amazon SageMaker, the AI solution enabled Bank of Ireland’s legal team to work faster, smarter, and more strategically.
